• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 200g sugar
• 120ml vegetable oil
• 240ml buttermilk (vegan)

• 1 tsp vinegar
• 240ml hot coffee or hot water
• 2 flax eggs (2 tbsp ground flaxseed + 6 tbsp water)

Method:
Preheat oven to 175°C and grease your baking tins.

Mix the ground flaxseed with water and let it sit for 10 minutes.

Sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder and salt.

In another bowl whisk sugar, flax eggs, oil, vanilla and vegan buttermilk until smooth.

Add black food coloring until you achieve a deep black shade 🖤

Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients.

Mix vinegar into the hot coffee/water then pour into the batter. Batter will be thin, that’s okay.

Bake for 30–40 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.

Let the cakes cool completely before frosting.

Pairs perfectly with vegan chocolate buttercream or dairy-free whipped cream frosting 😍
